Combining Talk Therapy + EMDR
Healing isn’t a straight line — it’s a process that unfolds in its own time. For many clients, combining traditional talk therapy with EMDR offers balance and flexibility without rushing the process and overwhelming the nervous system.
In this approach, our sessions are typically 90 minutes long, allowing time for both reflection and processing to happen, while leaving time to regulate and resource before the session ends. We’ll begin by exploring what’s been coming up for you — your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns — and then move into EMDR when you feel ready.
EMDR helps your brain and body reprocess the memories, sensations, or beliefs that keep you feeling stuck, while talk therapy helps you make meaning of those experiences and integrate the changes into your everyday life.
We may also tap into other modalities that resonate with you such as internal family systems or attachment work, among others. Some sessions may look different depending on what you’re feeling and what is coming up for you.
Unlike EMDR intensives, which are designed for deeper, concentrated work over a shorter period, ongoing EMDR sessions woven into talk therapy create steady progress over time. This combination allows us to slow down when needed, build trust and insight, and move at a pace that honors your readiness and emotional safety.
There’s no set timeline for healing — together, we’ll focus on where you are, what you need, and how we can help you feel more grounded, empowered, and connected to yourself as you move forward.
What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy developed to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences. Developed by the late Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987 and backed by decades of research, EMDR has been shown to be highly effective in reducing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other trauma-related concerns.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on helping the brain process unhealed memories and experiences that continue to trigger emotional or physical distress in the present. When something traumatic or overwhelming happens, the brain’s natural processing system can become “stuck,” leaving parts of that experience unintegrated. EMDR helps restart that system using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, sounds, or taps), allowing the brain to reprocess those memories so they no longer feel as charged or intrusive.

Postpartum Support
Becoming a mother changes everything — your body, your identity, your relationships, and your sense of self.
Between caring for your baby, adjusting to sleepless nights, and managing the expectations that come with motherhood, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself. You might find yourself wondering who you are now, or feeling guilt for missing the “old you.” You might feel anxious, irritable, sad, or simply exhausted from trying to hold it all together.
You’re not alone in this. Postpartum therapy offers a compassionate space to process your emotions, strengthen your support system, and find your footing again.
Together, we’ll talk about the changes you’re experiencing — emotionally, physically, and relationally — and help you reconnect with yourself in this new season.
Whether you’re navigating postpartum depression or anxiety, adjusting to parenthood, or struggling to balance motherhood with your other roles, we’ll work toward helping you feel grounded, supported, and at peace in your own skin and not so isolated from yourself and your loved ones.
Therapy Intensives
Sometimes, traditional weekly therapy can feel too spread out — just as you start to make progress, the session ends and it’s another week before you can pick things up again.
Traditional therapy is typically about 45-50 minutes per session. By the time you are done updating your therapist about the last week, there is not a lot of time left for going deeper and processing. Therapy intensives offer a different kind of restorative experience — one that allows you to stay focused and immersed in your process for a longer, uninterrupted period of time.
Intensives can range from half-day to multi-day formats, and each one is tailored to your needs and goals. We may use EMDR, parts work (IFS), or somatic approaches to help you process past experiences, reduce distress, and strengthen your connection to yourself.
Why do an Intensive?
Many clients describe intensives as a “fast pass” to healing — because you’re devoting dedicated time and space to go deeper without distraction. It’s ideal for those who feel stuck, want to work through specific issues, or are ready to experience significant movement in their healing journey.

While intensives allow for faster progress, the healing continues afterward — often with new insights, clarity, and a stronger sense of inner calm. It’s a focused investment in you and your emotional wellbeing.
